Facebook is one of the most popular social networking hub of our times. But at the same time, there has always been lots of controversy and speculations regarding privacy of your personal data on Facebook. Adding to the same speculation – Did you knew that Facebook saves a history of all the searches that you perform on the site? Shocking?
Frankly it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as most of the social networks and web apps nowadays are only interested in your personal data and usage history to serve you more targeted content and advertisements. So if you are not interested in any targeted ads or content, you should delete your search history from Facebook.
Here’s how you can view your Search History on Facebook
Goto your facebook profile -> Click on the top-right gear icon and Privacy Settings -> Click on Use Activity Log. Since the facebook layout keeps changing a lot frequently, here’s a direct link to Activity Log :
https://www.facebook.com/username/allactivity?privacy_source=privacy_settings_page (username is Your Username on FB)
Once on the page, click on the MORE below Photos, Likes and Comments -> Click on Search
This will display all the searches that you have performed in Chronological order. It lists all the searches that you have performed using the search bar on Facebook, right from the time you started using Facebook till now. Looks pretty creepy if you ask me !
Delete Your Facebook Search History
To delete the searches click on the “Clear Searches” on the top. You can also delete an individual search by clicking on the small blocked circle on the right side of a search.
